Trends Winter 2018: New Season, New Hair
Winter is coming. Halloween is over and Christmas is right around the corner, which means that winter is on its way. The change of seasons is the perfect time of year for a change of style. Whilst you’re bringing your boots and winter coats out of storage, why not thinking about changing your hair too? It doesn’t matter whether you want to cut your hair, or completely change your style with a human hair wig, new hair is a great way to instantly update your look. But what style should you choose? Here are five of this winter’s hottest hair trends to give you some inspiration:
Centre Parting
One of the simplest ways to switch up your style and make maximum impact, without making a permanent change to your hair, is to change the position of your parting. Side partings have been in vogue for several seasons, but now the centre parting is back. Kim Kardashian is a huge champion of this trend, and Saoirse Ronan also sported it at this year’s Oscars. Choosing a human hair wig with a centre parting is a great way to upgrade your style, but it is easy to move the parting of your existing wig. Simply use a thin comb to tease your hair into position and ensure that your parting is perfectly straight.
Add Plenty of Gloss
Strong and healthy-looking hair has never gone out of vogue and this year shiny, high-gloss hair is more on trend than ever. The best way to achieve this is by regularly using an intensive conditioner on your hair, and then using a high-gloss spray across your length once your hair is dry. Mirror-glossy hair looks youthful, healthy and vibrant. This is particularly effective if you have brunette hair, which showcases gloss so effectively. Think of celebrities such as Jennifer Garner and Liv Tyler as your hair-inspiration for this look. Once you have achieved your glossy hair effect, you can finish the look by heat treating it. Both gentle curls or poker straight lengths would be the wonderful way to complete this look.
A Simple Sleek Ponytail
Up dos can be tricky if you’re a wig wearer, and if you’re not used to styling your own hair they can also be difficult to do well. If you like to wear your hair pulled back from your face but lack the talent to create a complicated up do then we have good news: this season’s hottest up do is the sleek and slick ponytail that anyone can achieve. Comb your hair back so that the top is as smooth as possible, and then pull the remaining hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. A wax spray will help to hold your hair in place. Looking to elevate this look for a party or special occasion? Add a bow, sequined or sparkly headband, or statement barrette. Hair accessories are bang on trend this season and should be as big and bold as possible if you want to make a big impact.
The Markle Effect
Meghan Markle has exploded onto our radar since she began dating and subsequently married Prince Harry. Her sense of style has impacted on almost every aspect of the fashion industry, and now that is having an influence on how we wear our hair. This winter ‘The Markle effect’ means that the messy bun which is the Duchess’s trademark is bang on trend. Sure to make you feel royally elegant, this wispy and wonderful style is easy to achieve. Spray your crown with hairspray before pulling your hair back into a messy bun. Be sure to pull wisps of hair out of your style to create a broken up, wind-swept look.
Jump Back in Bed
Bed head waves are back in vogue, and messier than ever! The total opposite of sleek and slick mirror gloss hair, bed head hair is perfect for creating a low key look and is often favoured by celebrities such as Chrissie Tiegen. If you’re lucky enough to wake up with hair that looks perfectly disheveled then the styling needed here will be minimal. Otherwise, curl your hair using curling tongs (don’t forget to use a hair protection spray) and then shake your curls out. Backcomb panels underneath your hair, and you’re ready to party! This is the perfect look for all those Christmas events.
