Packing for the Summer Holiday
There are a few easy tips to abide by when packing for a trip for summer vacation. Packing becomes easier and quicker when the procedure is followed. Packing becomes overwhelming once the summer destination is chosen. Depending on the number of children, packing can be a daunting task if you do not follow a few basic steps. Start preparing kids for the vacation one week before.
First, put in place a packing list for each child. Differentiate members on the trip. Packing entails crossing each item backed. Items to be packed at the end must have an asterisk. Among others, a monitor, snacks and children’s favorite sheet are usually packed at the end. A duplicate copy of the packed list must be kept for use before returning from the summer vacation.
The next step is to pack kids clothes for use every day in say a plastic zip-lock bag. This is a relatively new step in the process of packing. You will love it as it makes traveling much easier. Assign one zip-lock for every outfit. Everything needed for the trip should be put in the zip-lock bag. The zip-lock bag will have socks, tops, headband, underwear, and bracelets among many more.
If there are five outfits for the trip, then you will have five bags for the kids. It makes you ready for trip. A child will always grab one and will have everything in it. It is worth having clothes that do not catch dirt much easily. Avoid having children share clothes. Each child should have his or her attire. Sharing is tempting but should be avoided. Sharing makes confusion to creep in when packing. Putting various things in one bag will disorganize the entire exercise. Each child should have a travel bag with his or her name inscribed on it.
Make sure that kids also participate in packing. Allow them to play a role in packing. It teaches them responsibility and increases excitement for the summer trip. You can let kids pack a pair of pajamas, a few books and two or three toys. Apart from keeping them busy, it helps them know that packing is fun.
It is advisable for kids to share toiletries. Pack personal items in one bag to avoid being too bulky. This is because everyone will be preparing to be in the bathroom. Do not carry everything, some can be bought only for the trip. There are times the trip such as cruising do not need toiletries. Being a long holiday, toiletries are necessary. You could get a 6-pack cheap of toothbrushes for use only in the vacation. The quality does not let them use them at home after the trip. The quality is poor.
You are allowed to let kids buy what they can if they get there. Do not necessarily buy everything before them leave. A few snacks can do. Groceries for instance, can always be bought in the destination. The zip-lock bag is the best place to put all you need for the trip. Train kids to clean their rooms before they leave. It serves to make them responsible and generate enthusiasm.
